The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has extended the deadline for property tax payments at a discounted rate to July 7. This decision follows widespread reports of technical glitches and significant overcrowding experienced on June 30, the original deadline. Many residents were unable to complete their transactions due to these issues.

Responding to considerable public demand and the evident server issues, the PMC’s Tax Assessment and Collection Department has officially extended the period for discounted payments. Taxpayers can now benefit from the existing 5% to 10% discount on their property tax payments until the extended deadline. This extension aims to provide ample opportunity for all eligible residents to make their payments without facing the previous difficulties.

Who Is Eligible

This extension applies to all property owners within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits who are liable to pay property tax. Specifically, those who were unable to pay their property tax before the original deadline of June 30 due to the aforementioned server issues and long queues are eligible. The discount is available to all taxpayers who meet the standard eligibility criteria for the 5% to 10% discount, irrespective of whether they attempted to pay before the original deadline.

Notably, this extension does not introduce new eligibility requirements. If you were eligible for the discount before June 30, you remain eligible until the extended deadline of July 7. The Pune Municipal Corporation encourages all eligible property owners to take advantage of this extended deadline to clear their dues and benefit from the discount. The decision to extend the deadline came after considering the considerable public demand and acknowledging the difficulties many faced.

How To Pay

Residents have several convenient options to pay their property tax before the extended deadline of July 7. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) encourages taxpayers to use online payment methods where possible, to avoid queues and potential technical issues. The PMC website offers a secure payment gateway where residents can pay using credit cards, debit cards, or net banking. A receipt will be generated immediately upon successful transaction.

For those who prefer offline methods, payments can be made at designated PMC citizen facilitation centres and ward offices across the city. These centres accept cash, cheques, and demand drafts. However, given the recent server issues and public demand for easier access, the PMC recommends verifying the operating hours and potential queue lengths before visiting these locations. Ensure you have your property account number readily available, regardless of the payment method chosen, to facilitate a smooth transaction. The discount will be automatically applied to eligible payments made before the extended deadline.
